Infected Mushroom: What a Trip
OK, let's get a few cliche's out on the table:
- There's no business like show business
- The show must go on
With this in mind, I have to say that last Saturday's party at RISE with Infected Mushroom was one of the craziest RISE has ever seen (and that I've ever thrown). We were packed from midnight to 6am with super-fans who were oozing with excitement, anticipation, and appreciation over this rare stateside after-hours DJ set from their favorite group. The show went off without a hitch, and was a huge success by all accounts.
Booking acts like Infected Mushroom is great because they bring a special energy with them wherever they go. It's like every fan on the dancefloor is having the absolute best night they have ever had, and they want every person around them to know it. I was proud when I saw Boston and RISE represent that night.
Let the record state that this night was actually a nightmare behind the scenes, wraught with cancelled flights, lost luggage, and and a myriad of other snafus... but everyone came through big! So, thanks.
I must mention that this show wouldn't have ever happened if it wasn't for IM's tour manager & opening DJ, Randy Seidman. I met him while gigging in LA back in '06 and have watched him develop from a west-coast deep house DJ into a main-room progressive & trance powerhouse (way to go, Randy!). Anywho, he and I had always conspired to bring IM to RISE, but it just never seemed feasible due to the fact that we're a tiny little after-hours club with no bar. There's not enough cash generated at the door to pay for bigdog weekend headliners. Luckily, Randy worked his magic and made this one happen. On behalf of all of the Infected Mushroom fans here in Boston, thanks for helping us throw one helluva party.
