Rich "The Wig" and I invite you to Monday Sessions, our new weekly residency at Lorenzo's. Each week we'll play at least 5 hours, beginning at 8pm, setting the mood with a mix of groovy, downtempo, indie, moody, organic, vibey sounds. Expect the unexpected, as well as guest appearances from some of our favorite DJs.
Lorenzo's is a proper restaurant and bar, so come through hungry and thirsty. We'll do our part and subtly flex their mighty soundsystem to your ear's content.
Located off the Jefferson St. stop on the L in Brooklyn's Bushwick neighborhood.
I've been invited to play the 2nd half of the night in the basement at Brut - NYC's only underground fetish party. I don't tend to play gay parties, but Brut is a place where I can play deep and dark, and the boys will come along for the ride. No circuit shit here, thanks very much.
Looking forward to some late-night filth... See you at Santos.
It's looking like these Monday nights may turn into a regular thing. I'm pumped because Lorenzo's already has so much going for it in terms of food, drink, and ambiance. After so many yeasr of focusing strictly on the clubs, I'm loving having a reason to switch gears and really hunt for deeper cuts, Chigitty check it.
For much of my life, I felt like an island. The emergence of collectives like Honey Soundsystem, Wrecked!, Honcho, and other's, have reassured me that I am in fact not alone.
Honey Soundsystem is a San Francisco based collective of four. Jacob Sperber, Jason Kendig, Robert Yang and Josh Cheon came together inspired by pivotal gay underground parties and dance music history, who offered a take on dance music in direct opposition to what was blaring on mainstream club speakers. They bond over a shared love of timeless sounds, iconic imagery, the complete look, indulgent behavior, and most of all, attractive men. The boys dedicate time and passion into archivist work, which resulted in unearthing the lost gay porn soundtracks of San Francisco’s Hi-NRG producer Patrick Cowley released on Honey’s flagship HNYTRX and Cheon’s Dark Entries. The crew throws their heart into event production and are known to build massive, elaborate, party-specific installations. Honey boys have their fingers in the world of music production, remixing and DJing parties around the world.
Lorenzo's is a diamond in the rough in the dopest part of Brooklyn. The menu is full of amazing options served unti 3:30am, and the bar delivers killer drinks. They also took it upon themselves to fill the converted auto garage with 6 super-proper speakers surrounding the room... a feature that makes our collective experiences much enjoyable.
Rich and I will start at 9pm with some deep grooves to complement the mood of those hanging out eating & drinking. As the night progresses, so will our music.
Wil Trahan is one of my favorite DJs from the New England area. He's been playing out regularly for more than a decade, most recently opening for the world's biggest DJs every Friday as Bijou Boston's resident. Impeccable taste + experience in the booth = a force to be reckoned with.
Wil and I are teaming up to throw down at Therapy, one of the nicest clubs I've ever had the pleasure of playing. We'll be going late and getting heavy; be ready. >: )
Lorenzo's is a dope little spot in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. They've got a serious soundsystem, great drinks, and a full kitchen that's open from 5pm - 3:30am, 7 days a week (that's no joke!)
Not sure what to expect from a last minute 5 hour set on a Monday - we'll play it by ear.
I'm turning 35 this year, and to celebrate I'll be warming up Bijou for the one-and-only Nic Fanciulli. I've been a big fan of Nic's since he burst onto the scene in the early 2000s. Happy to finally share the booth with him!
I'm on from 10pm - midnight. Pick up pre-sale tix here, or mention my name at the door for reduced admission.
Catz & Dogz are house music bosses. I've been playing their records for about 7 years now, many of which are among the most beautifully, uniquely, and equisitely produced tracks in my collection.
Put simply, they travel the world because they know how to inspire people to dance and forget their worries. I'm into that sort of thing!
It will be my honor to warm up the room for them with a special 3 hour set starting at 9pm. Gigitty.
For the celebration of our 11 years as a club night, we're bringing back one of our favorite guests of all-time: the boys of BICEP. We love these guys because they came first from a rabid love of music and backed into becoming artists. First as a deep dive blog that has been running for, well, a long time, they devoted themselves to lost or under-appreciated genres like Italo, Boogie and Disco.
Yet it was their destiny to become stars.
Friends as teenagers, they would slip into raves and at the age of 16 had already witnessed the genius of Tiga, the phenomenal UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE and Philadelphia's Josh Wink.
Fast-forward and they're now releasing on labels like Fink and Will Saul Artist Page's Aus Music and collaborating with Simian Mobile Disco.
The big time, basically.
Welcome back boys.
11 YEARS OF MAKE IT NEW W/ BICEP
Limited Advance tickets to come
Germany's Recondite has made quite the name for himself over the last several years. As a producer, he's released tracks on redhot labels like Innervisions, Life and Death, and Hotflush. In the booth, he's continues to win over throngs of fans with his heavily textured live sets of deep emotive techno.
He'll be touching down in Boston/Cambridge this fall, and I'll be closing out the night after him. Can't wait!
Back up to my home away from home for four more hours of funk!
"A party for gentlemen who like the boom. Residents Ron Like Hell and Ryan Smith are on a mission to keep NYC dancing until dawn and beyond."
OK, let's do this.
When things are good, it's important to remind yourself not to take it all for granted. Everytime I return to The Red Door, I pinch myself.
Tasteful beats w/ a dope bar & sound system taboot. We're a lucky bunch.
After Dancing On The Charles, I'll be heading over to Dusk Till Done's after-hours spot to play some grimey late-night 'ish. Set time is 3am, immedietely following DC's Sarah Myers.
Dancing On The Charles is a Boston institution. No place else in this area can you find so many awesome people & great DJs at one outdoor party. The vibe is always thick!
Buy your tickets now as this party always sells out. See you on the patio!
Therapy is a beast of an after-hours club managed by a top notch team of industry veterans. I've always had love for what they represent, but rarely was able to DJ for them due to my obligations at RISE. For better or worse, that is no longer the case.
I'll play 3-6 in the main room after a warm-up set by my homey Giovanni Cudia. Holding down the front room will be Boston's Patrick Barry and his Dusk Till Done crew.
It's hard to overstate the continuing legacy the Netherlands have put on new music. There is something about its culture and its people that supported club culture from its very roots. Names like Armin van Buuren and Tiësto are practically household names at this point, but the Dutch have always held tight to their underground clubs and sacred spaces.
Detroit Swindle was born in the underground and remain committed to those parties and venues that exude authenticity. For our annual "MINDEPENDENCE" affair, we're very happy to have them back. They are always a riot.
One of the best things about Sunday is that you might end up at brunch, ultimately dancing and partying your day away. That's not such a bad way to look at the end of the weekend, now is it?
12 noon - 8pm. Sun is shining, the weather is sweet now. Make you want to move your dancing feet.
I've had the distinct pleasure of playing in Ottawa many times over the years. Their scene is small, but the heads at the core are committed and some of the finest friends I've met through this music. The 19th marks my first time at Sotto; I'm looking forward to playing a non-afterhours headlining spot this time around.
Excited too be handling opening duties for Butch with my first gig as an official Make It New resident.
One of the most all-time charted artists in the world. Residencies at Watergate in Berlin. Releases on Luciano's Desolat Music Group, Sven Väth (OFFICIAL)'s Cocoon and Radioslave's Rekids.
“I like to make people dance and have fun. I’m the captain of the spaceship and I’m driving it. People who come to the show get in the ship – and I take them on a trip. To get into the spaceship, they leave their physical body at the door. You must switch off the real world and switch off the mind. I will do the rest.”
Back to my home away from home. Nothing beats Portsmouth in the summer. Let's get down.
Brunch is history, time to let go. Throwing down round 2 w/ The Wig & Co.
Saturday Brunch @ Verboten with my homies Rich & Leah. Can't imagine a better way to kick off the summer in NYC!
Gonna keep it nice and housey for your head.
Most who have been following dance music over the last decade are familiar with Steve Porter. The DJ/producer started his career at RISE, the after-hours club in Boston we both once called home. He's since gone off to take over the world as a touring DJ as well as a multimedia marketing maven.
Despite his diverse portfolio, Steve never lost his love for beats. He hosts a weekly radio show complete w/ webcast - PHR Radio - and has asked me to spin a live set on air for him.
Sit back and tune in, starting at 7PM. And if you missed the live airing, you can download my set from the archives.
My home away from home. 4 hour of who knows what, courtesy of you know who.
Every city has their pillars. Jamie O'Sullivan is one of those flag barers in Portland, ME. His party LOVE, which holds down the first Friday of every month at Flask Lounge, is an institution for all who seek proper deepness.
I don't get to spend much time in Maine, except for the occasional snowboarding trip to Sunday River. It's a real pleasure to finally make my way north to get a taste of the way life should be.
If you're a fan of proper house music, there's but one party in the Boston area that will satisfy your wants on a Wednesday night: Re:Set @ the Phoenix Landing.
Randy Deshaies & the team over there have graciously invited me back to grace the decks for 90 minutes or so. Happy to oblige. :)
Firstly, we regret to inform that Alan Manzi, our special resident DJ and long-time house music bannerman, has had to hang up his headphones for all the wrong reasons: Alan has unfortunately been diagnosed with hearing loss.
As a result he has had some medical bills pile up and we're asking that you bring a suggested donation of $10 to go directly towards Alan's medical bills.
Secondly, please join us in a celebration of Peter Brown as he heads westward. Peter not only has contributed his smile and support to our night for years, but Mr. Brown was the passionate lighting coordinator at Rise nightclub, having filled Boston's after-hours with a carefully-crafted light show for many many weekends.
Peter and Alan. Light and sound. Art and music. Two pillars of our extended family.Come pay your respects.

RISE opened Christmas Day, 1998. I went to my first party there in 2003, and spun my first gig in the lounge in 2004. 11 years later, I'll play my final headlining set in the main room. This club, and the people who chose to dance here, have been my greatest teachers. It will be a bitter-sweet honor to play for you all one final time.
Long-time friends Randy Deshaies, Ryan Obermiller, and Patrick Barry will keep the vibes proper all night in the lounge. LA's Freddy Be will warm things up in the main room for me.
In the words of the late Jerry Garcia, "What a long, strange trip it's been..."
After Mother Nature made me her bish in February, I'm DETERMINED to make it back home to The Red Door this month. So many lovely hausjams for your ears.
Be my valentine? (I'm holding on to this since I was robbed in Feb.)
Joel Mull is a techno DJ and producer from Sweden who has released on labels such as Drumcode, Truesoul, Audiomatique, Saved, Cocoon, Kanzleramt and Music Man.
He's DJ'd at RISE once before, and his set was nothing short of remarkable. We're proud to welcome him back to Boston for one more late-night indulgence, with your's truly warming things up for him.
Whether you're madly in love with your soulmate, or in a long-term fight with cupid, let's come together at The Red Door for another night of soultry beats and steamy vibes.
“If you haven't been to a show at Oberon, put on your dancing shoes and go now! AcousticaElectronica was one of the most entertaining and exciting evenings of theater I've ever seen.” - Boston Events Insider Review September, 2014
AcousticaElectronica is a mind-blowing event that blends elements of electronic and classical music, dance, circus arts and immersive theatre with the infectious energy of the contemporary nightclub. Leaders in these industries have teamed up to create an extraordinary, next-generation experience.
This ultimate dance party becomes an immersive event for the audience. Dancers, symphonies, aerialists, operas, and live musicians all happen around every inch of the space to keep the audience guessing at every turn.
My home away from home. House music, proper cocktails, open-minded dancing types.
Is this really in New Hampshire?
